We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on the role of nuclear architecture and higher-order chromatin organization in cell differentiation and tumorigenesis.

Nuclear architecture and higher-order chromatin organization are essential for the establishment of cell-type specific gene expression patterns during development, differentiation and disease, including malignant transformation. Components of the structural scaffolds that determine nuclear architecture have pleiotropic effects in diverse physiological processes and have been linked to several types of cancer. Our lab has a long-standing interest in the role of transcription factors, epigenetic modifiers and nuclear matrix proteins in controlling higher order chromatin organisation and gene expression patterns during cell commitment and differentiation. The proposed project will focus on uncovering the chromatin-nuclear matrix interactions and alterations occurring during lung development and tumorigenesis.

The applicants should possess a strong research background in molecular and cell biology; specific experience in the fields of tumor biology, stem cell biology or epigenetics will be an advantage.

The successful applicants will join a friendly and dynamic team in the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (Prof. Dr. Gergana Dobreva), which provides excellent research facilities.
