The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several units that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Division
Unit of Clinical Epidemiology
Applications are invited for a postdoc in epidemiological research into various aspects of multiple sclerosis (MS), including precursors, disease course and outcomes. The appointments will be for two years, and based at the Clinical Epidemiology Unit, Department of Medicine, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.

Duties
The postdoctoral epidemiologistappointment will entail involvement in MS-related projects that combine epidemiological data with genetic information and other biomarkers. The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of some aspects of these projects, including overseeing the analysis conducted by a biostatistician or epidemiologist and working with other collaborators. Participation in the production of publications for submission to peer-reviewed journals and other forms of dissemination will be central activities.

Entry requirements
Applicants for the postdoctoral epidemiologistpost should have a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and should be competent in epidemiological research, preferably with significant knowledge of
secondary analysis or register research using large and complex datasets. Experience of research into MS or other immune-mediated diseases would be an advantage.

A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
