英国剑桥大学分子细胞生物学和基因表达研究博士后职位
A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Professor Sir Bruce Ponder FRS at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (http://www.cruk.cam.ac.uk) to join a small team of molecular cell biologists and computational biologists exploring mechanisms of lung cancer development through analysis of gene regulatory networks in airway epithelial cells. This is an extension of our similar approach in breast cancer (Nature Communications 4, 2464, 2013). You will obtain gene expression signatures of defined perturbations of airway epithelial cells in culture, and of airway epithelium obtained from smokers and non-smokers with and without lung cancer, superimpose these on relevant gene regulatory networks to identify the master regulators, regulons and pathways involved, and then develop appropriate follow-on experiments. The underlying hypothesis is that polygenic variation influences airway response to smoke injury, and thus risk of cancer development; understanding this biology is a starting point to find markers of susceptibility and targets for mechanism-based prevention.
The successful candidate will have an excellent academic record, a strong background in molecular cell biology and gene expression studies, and ideally an interest in, and some knowledge of, computational approaches.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
