The Center for Imaging of Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIND) has a postdoctoral position for an MRI physicist. The successful candidate is expected to develop innovative data acquisition and analysis methods with state-of-the-art human 3T and 7T MRI scanners for research for the physical and biological basis of brain functional imaging in health and disease.
The position requires a Ph.D. in a physical, mathematical, biological, or engineering field. Solid knowledge of NMR/MRI physics and signal processing as well as a track-record of MRI pulse sequence development are essential. Skills in mathematics, scientific computing, and programming in the Unix-like environment are desirable. Experiences in imaging with human normal subjects or patients of neurological disorders or brain cancer are preferable but not necessary.
The CIND is located at the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) and fully affiliated with University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The CIND (http://www.radiology.ucsf.edu/cind) currently has 10 UCSF science and medicine faculty members as well as collaborators from SFVAMC and other UCSF campuses, working closely on technical development and clinical application of medical imaging for neurological, neurodegerenative, and mental health disorders. The CIND offers a resourceful and stimulating scientific environment. The CIND has a 3T and a 4T whole-body scanner, and a 7T scanner will be delivered in fall 2013; all scanners are dedicated to research. The successful candidate will also have access to resources at UCSF for research and for career development, and will have opportunity to pursue independent research related to this position.
The appointment will be made by UCSF. The position is immediately available.
UCSF seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
