A postdoctoral position in protein engineering, genomics, epigenetics, gene therapy, regenerative medicine, and genetic reprogramming is available in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Institute for Genome Science and Policy at Duke University. The position is associated with funding from the NIH and private foundations, including an NIH Director’s New Innovator Award. Funded projects include engineering proteins for targeted gene regulation and genome editing for applications in regenerative medicine, correction of genetic diseases, and decoding the function of regulatory elements. These interdisciplinary projecst includes opportunities for collaboration with investigators in Engineering, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Medical Genetics at Duke. The projects also include training in innovative technologies that can serve as a foundation for future research projects in diverse areas of medicine and basic science.
Applicants should have completed a PhD in biomedical engineering, molecular or cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, pharmacy/pharmacology or related field and have experience and interests in protein engineering, genomics/epigenetics, stem cell differentiation, genetic reprogramming, and/or regenerative medicine. Candidates should have a strong experimental background, academic history, and publication record, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
