英国剑桥大学动物学/物理学博士后职位
The position is available for up to twelve months, starting 1 December 2013 in the Insect Biomechanics Group (laboratory of Walter Federle: (www2.zoo.cam.ac.uk/federle/ ) in the Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge. The Department is in the heart of Cambridge city centre at the junction of Downing Street and Corn Exchange Street on the New Museums' site.The position is in a project funded by the BBSRC to analyse the adhesion of insect attachment structures on rough substrates and their mechanisms of self-cleaning.
Required skills and desirable experience for the position
Essential:
-
PhD in an appropriate subject (e.g. zoology, physics, engineering, animal physiology, biomechanics, biophysics), completed or completion imminent
-
Good quantitative, analytical, and English skills
-
Drive and enthusiasm to design, execute and analyse ambitious experimental programmes
-
Ability to organize time and work effectively, independently and self-responsibly in a research team setting
-
Good interpersonal skills
Desirable:
-
Research and publication experience in an area at the interface between biology and physics
-
Technical experience in some of the following:
-
optical lithography and nanoimprinting
-
light and electron microscopy
-
atomic force microscopy
-
force measurements
-
programming experience in Labview, Matlab or similar
-
handling insects
-
movement analysis
