英国剑桥大学遗传学博士后职位
We are looking to recruit a highly-motivated post-doctoral researcher with strong quantitative skills to undertake cutting-edge inter-disciplinary research at the interface of genomics, statistics, and evolutionary biology. The successful applicant will develop new computational and statistical methods for the analysis of genome sequence data, in order to understand the dynamics of rapidly evolving pathogen populations.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in population genetics and genomic data analysis. However, due to the inter-disciplinary nature of the work, applications would be welcomed from candidates with backgrounds in a wide range of quantitative subjects, including physics, biophysics, mathematics, statistics, and computational biology.
You should have or be about to receive a PhD in a quantitative biological discipline, or in another relevant science (e.g. statistics, mathematics, physics, biophysics) with a commitment to learn about relevant biological systems. Strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential for the role, along with excellent problem solving abilities, and a fluency in programming in at least one language or mathematical platform (C++, Perl, Mathematica, etc). Expertise in the fields of evolution and infectious disease would be advantageous, as would prior experience of working with large data sets, expertise in statistics, and in the mathematical modelling of stochastic processes.
Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Chris Illingworth, cjri2@cam.ac.uk
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
