POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN SPINAL CORD INJURY RESEARCH

A funded postdoctoral position in Spinal Cord Injury Research is available for a highly motivated candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Cavalli at Washington University in Saint Louis School of Medicine to participate in research projects focusing on new strategies for spinal cord repair. By studying the molecular events that dictate the regenerative response of neurons in the peripheral nervous system, we have harnessed information that can be used to increase the regenerative capacity in the central nervous system. Using transgenic mouse models and a combination of biochemistry, cell biology and cutting edge in vitro and in vivo fluorescence microscopy imaging techniques we will explore new strategies for spinal cord repair that focuses on the transcriptional switch controlling axon growth competence following injury. We are also assessing the mechanisms controlling de novo growth cone formation following injury. For additional information see http://thalamus.wustl.edu/cavallilab .

Qualifications: Candidates with prior expertise in spinal cord injury models are particularly encouraged to apply.
