Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Grade 7: £29,541 – £32,267 per annum

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work under the supervision of Dr Roel Dullens on a research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC) for a period of up to 3 years.
The project is focused on the underlying structural and dynamical processes that determine the relation between impurities and material properties and involves the use of three-dimensional holographic optical tweezers, fast confocal microscopy and image analysis to study of range of condensed matter problems using colloidal model systems doped with impurities. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate who either already has a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or a relevant subject area, or has submitted your thesis prior to taking up the post. You should have expertise in 3D confocal microscopy of (dense) colloidal systems, image analysis and computer programming as well as a strong background in statistical mechanics and thermodynamics. Experience with holographic optical tweezing, colloid synthesis is desirable.
