Job Description:
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately to study synaptic transmission/plasticity and alcohol abuse at the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
Research in the lab uses state-of-the-art technologies, including patch-clamp recording from genetically identified neurons using transgenic animals, optogenetics and pharmacogenetics, analysis of structural plasticity using 3-D reconstruction of single neurons in combination with behavioral procedures. Requirements:
We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and with in-depth experience in slice electrophysiology, including whole-cell patch-clamp recordings. Ability to measure glutamatergic transmission in acute brain slices is desired. Experience with stereotaxic viral infusion, immunohistochemistry, or confocal imaging is a big plus. We are also welcome candidates with strong backgrounds in behavioral neuroscience of drug addiction who are highly motivated to learn electrophysiology. The successful applicant is expected to work independently as well as cooperatively with a team.
