A two year‐postdoctoral position is open at the laboratory of “Chloroplast Membrane and Molecular Physiology” (UMR7141 CNRS/UPMC) located at the Institut de Biologie Physico‐Chimique, Paris, France. The research project aims at a molecular dissection of the nuclear control of chloroplast gene expression in the unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. It addresses the role of helical repeat proteins encoded in the nucleus in the post‐transcriptional control of chloroplast gene expression. It includes the identification of their chloroplast RNA targets, the elucidation of the specificity rules and the characterization of the corresponding ribonucleo‐protein complexes. Preferentially, applicants should have a solid background in RNA biology, particularly in the identification and characterization of small RNAs and/or in the biochemistry of protein/RNA interactions.
The position is open on February 1st 2014 but the actual start of the postdoctoral contract could be delayed by a few months if required.
