英国利兹大学天体物理学博士后职位
Postdoctoral Research Assistant/Fellow in Computational Studies of Star Formation
University of Leeds -Mathematics & Physical Sciences
Job Summary
Fixed term for 3 years, available from 1 April 2014
You will work with Professors Sam Falle and Tom Hartquist to investigate non-ideal MHD effects in the evolution of shocks, filaments and cores and the formation of proto-planetary discs. You will use the group’s AMR code, which has been applied to problems including self-gravity and ambipolar and Hall resistivities.
Professors Hoare and Oudmaijer and Drs Lumsden and Pittard are other members of the very active Leeds research group working on star formation. Through the UKMHD consortium, the group has access to the 6500 cores STFC DiRAC II Data Centric Cluster. In addition, Leeds has recently invested in a new HPC cluster (3040 cores - 2.6 GHz Intel Sandy-Bridge CPUs with 2 GB RAM per core). A 2000 core 2.8 GHz Intel Nehalem CPU machine with 1.5 GB RAM per core is also available. The University's membership in the White Rose Grid and its status in a National Grid Node ensure continued cost effective and high quality support.
You will have (or will be about to obtain) a PhD in Astrophysics, or a related discipline, and relevant experience in computational science.
University Grade 6 (£25,013 - £29,837 p.a.) or Grade 7 (£30,728 - £36,661 p.a.) dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary spine point is subject to external funding conditions which will limit the starting salary to a maximum of £32,590 p.a.
