An enthusiastic and creative Postdoctoral Research Assistant is required to add their expertise to a team investigating the Rational Design of Functional Bionanomaterials for Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering. The research programme involves the rational design of a new class of artificial membrane-binding proteins. Specifically, the PDRA will be involved in cloning, expression, purification and characterisation of several key proteins that will be modified using synthetic polymers to produce artificial membrane binding nanoconjugates.
During the project, the candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of design and testing, including nanoconjugate construction, cell adhesion assay development and tissue engineering with human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). The nanoconjugates will be characterised using a range of microscopic (TEM, and AFM), spectroscopic, and scattering (SANS and SAXS) techniques.
The appointment in the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM) is a fixed three-year position and is supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The successful candidate will be working in a new multidisciplinary research group led by Dr. Adam Perriman.
