Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to undertake research in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The research has a particular focus on the cell-type specific epigenetic regulation of candidate genes in breast and lung cancer and the functional and translational consequences with specific focus on circulating nucleic acids. The research will be based in the Centre for Molecular Oncology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related biological sciences discipline. An interest in molecular biological techniques including cell culture is essential. Other essential requirements for this post include experience in pre-clinical testing of novel anticancer drugs and analysis of tissue and biomarker studies. Experience in validation of novel anti-cancer targets would be advantageous. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.
The post is full time for two years. Starting salary will be in the Grade 4 Research range £31,113 - £36,544 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
