Fixed-Term for 12 Months
Salary: £28,132 to £30,728 per annum

Modelling of next generation manufacturing processes in nickel and titanium alloys will involve the development of physically relevant yet numerically efficient computational tools. This will involve, development of material models accounting for dislocation interactions in the meso-scale followed by development of a modelling framework, which will be applicable at physically relevant length scales, using homogenisation techniques.
The project will form one of the integral parts of a collaborative UK/India research grant, which is funded by the EPSRC and the Government of India. The candidate is expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Post-graduate qualification to doctorate level or significant equivalent experience at a senior level, some experience of plasticity and micromechanics and in finite-element analyses and use of commercial software packages is essential. Post-doctoral research in solid and computational mechanics or equivalent experience and programming of user subroutines and knowledge of PETSc is desirable.
