Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine Cancer Center invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships in cancer developmental therapeutics. The Cancer Center is well-funded by NIH, Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), and other foundations. We seek highly motivated PhD’s in biology that are interested in carrying out research to develop novel anti-cancer drugs in the laboratory and in clinical trials for adult and pediatric cancers. The Cancer Center has state-of-the-art core laboratories within the Cancer Center including Analytical Cytology (flow cytometry), Cell Culture Core, Molecular Core (short-tandem repeats, RT-PCR, etc), and Pharmacology Core.
Our research focuses on developing new therapeutic strategies by understanding the mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy in childhood cancers. The successful candidate will plan, design, and conduct experiments that are related to these projects. Experiments will involve classical cell and molecular biology techniques, including cloning, transient/stable transfection, immunoprecipitation, molecular profiling, cell culture assays, genotyping, pharmacokinetic evaluations, and in vivo testing in mice. The duties and responsibilities of the post-doc are 1) conduct research for the project, 2) design experiments related to gene/protein expression and protein-protein expression, 3) prepare and submit abstracts and manuscripts for publications, and 4) supervise/train technicians and students involved in the project.
Applicants should be highly motivated and experienced in pharmacogenomics, enzymatic polymorphisms, and/or molecular biology. A strong prior publication record in the area is a plus. Outstanding communication skills and excellent references are required. Please visit http://Cancer.TTUHSC.edu and http://www.ttuhsc.edu/som/cbb/faculty/Kang.aspx to learn more about our Cancer Center and the PI.
