The Position:
CSIRO offers PhD graduates an opportunity to launch their scientific careers through our Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) Postdoctoral Fellowships. Successful applicants will work with leaders in the field of science and receive personal development and learning opportunities.
Applications are invited for a 3 year OCE Postdoctoral Fellowship in Catalysis and Flow Chemistry. The main responsibilities of this post will be to participate in the discovery and development of novel complexity generating C-C bond forming reactions using visible light photocatalysis and flow chemistry. It will include the screening of novel catalysts, and development of homo- and heterogeneous catalysis methods. A particular focus will be enantioselective transformations. Successful applicants may have backgrounds in organic chemistry, catalysis or flow chemistry.
Specifically you will:
- Design, develop and undertake experiments focussed on the discovery of novel complexity generating C-C bond forming transformations using visible light photocatalysis.
- Develop flow chemistry methods as a tool for enantioselective reaction discovery.
- Develop immobilised organic dyes for applications in continuous flow visible light catalysis.
- Produce high quality scientific papers suitable for publication in quality journals and granting of patents.
- Manage own research and administrative activities, including project management and co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
Location: Clayton, Victoria, Australia
Salary: $78K to $88K plus up to 15.4% superannuation (pension fund)
