Postdoctoral Research Officer in Computational Studies of New Materials for Lithium and Sodium Batteries
An EPSRC-funded postdoctoral research position is available to carry out computational studies of new materials for lithium and sodium batteries within the materials chemistry group of Professor Saiful Islam at the University of Bath.
The research project will apply advanced computational techniques (both DFT and potentials-based methods) in the study of defect, electronic, ion diffusion and surface properties of metal oxide and oxy-fluoride battery materials. This work will link up with collaborative experimental studies of Prof Peter Bruce (Oxford) and Prof Clare Grey (Cambridge), and is part of the new Supergen Hub on Energy Storage.
Previous experience in computational materials science and a track record of peer-reviewed publications are essential.
This post is available from 1st December 2014 or shortly thereafter for 24 months (with a possible extension of another 12 months). The interview date is 29th October 2014.
