A post-doctoral position is available in the Maehr Laboratory at UMass Medical School. Our laboratory focuses on establishing human pluripotent stem cell-based models for Type 1 Diabetes. We use stem cell differentiation approaches to generate disease relevant cell types. Our goal is to dissect the underlying mechanisms of Type 1 Diabetes. Currently, we combine cutting edge approaches such as CRISPR (epi-)genomics, small molecule screens and epigenetics to promote our stem cell differentiation efforts.

The position is in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and highly translational environment in the Diabetes Center of Excellence and the Program in Molecular Medicine. Highly-motivated candidates with expertise in molecular biology, chromatin, and developmental biology who are interested in a career in stem cell basic/translational research will be most competitive for this position.

Applicants with a strong background in developmental biology, epigenetic training, or immunology are encouraged to apply. Prior experience with mouse or human pluripotent stem cells is preferred, but not essential.
