The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.TIFFANY N SEAGROVES. A postdoctoral trainee position is available immediately in the Department of Pathology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN within the UTHSC Center for Cancer Research (http://www.uthsc.edu/cancer/). The primary research project will focus on determining the role of the oxygen responsive transcription factors HIF-1 and HIF-2 in regulation of breast cancer progression and metastasis and in tumor-initiating potential. We are also exploring if there are differential effects of the HIF transcription factors on distinct molecular subtypes of breast cancer, using rodent transgenic models of breast cancer, human breast cancer cell lines and patient-derived xenografts.
Qualifications: A strong background in molecular and cell biology techniques is required and experience working with genetically modified mice is strongely preferred. Successful candidates will have obtained a Ph.D. in the life sciences within the past 6 years, have excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced by prior publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as the ability to work in an interactive, open-lab format environment.
Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral research trainees set by the U.S. Department of Labor.
