POSTDOCTORAL POSITION – In vivo cancer immunology
University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT
A postdoctoral position is available in cancer immunology and drug discovery in the group of Dr. Andrew Wiemer. The project is focused on how novel small molecules affect cellular interactions between immune cells and malignant cells. (http://homepages.uconn.edu/~ajw12004/index.html). A significant portion of this work will be performed using mice as a model organism.
Primary Responsibilities
•Conceive and conduct experiments on the in vivo immune response to cancer using mice as a model organism.
•Disseminate research results through conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
•Participate in grant writing and fellowship applications.
•Participate in lab meetings and journal clubs.
•Develop with the PI a rigorous post-doctoral training plan that can lead to research independence.
Qualifications-required
•Ph.D. in pharmacology, cancer biology, immunology or a related field.
•Strong publication record consisting of multiple peer-reviewed first-author papers in good journals that are indexed on PubMed.
•Experience with mice as a model organism as demonstrated by publications.
•Willingness to work flexible hours in evenings and on weekends.
Qualifications-preferred
•Current Ph.D. candidate or Ph.D. earned within the last year.
•Experience with cell culture and/or molecular biological techniques.
•Evidence of prior research funding as a graduate student.
•Excellent English writing skills.
•Preference will be given to American citizens and/or permanent residents.
