PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Clinical Services Program's primary mission is to perform sequential studies of immune function in patients with cancer, AIDS, chronic granulomatous disease or other diseases associated with immunologic dysfunction, as well as to monitor viral load in patients with HIV. Research at the HPV Immunology lab merges the fields of immunology and virology to understand immunity to HPV in the context of natural infection as well as mechanisms and correlates of protection against infection induced by HPV vaccines. In addition, the laboratory is interested in investigating the role of inflammation in cancer development and identifying immune markers of cancer risk.JOB DESCRIPTION
A postdoctoral position is available to dissect mechanisms and correlates of protection against infection induced by HPV vaccines, with a particular focus on B cell responses induced by the vaccines. In addition, the candidate will be involved in projects identifying immune markers of cancer risk and investigating mechanisms of immune dysregulation associated with cancer development. The principal activities of this position will be to design, manage and conduct the experiments and analyze/report results form human clinical trial specimens. The candidate will also perform development and validation of new techniques applicable to immuno-epidemiological studies as needed. Assignments are of a highly specialized nature and require unusual technical proficiency and judgment. The candidate will evaluate results, selects alternative courses of action if warranted and carry the project through to completion. Assignments are performed independently after discussed with supervisor and little direct supervision is required for carrying out daily operations. Operates and maintains sensitive biomedical equipment. Work may involve the use of potentially hazardous chemical, biological, or radiological materials or may be located in areas where such materials are used. May require the use of personal protective equipment and adhere to strict safety protocols.

- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills as well as a meticulous approach to laboratory experimentation are critical to this position.
- Experience of flow cytometry, cell culture, ELISA, Luminex assays are required.
