A postdoctoral position is available at the Scripps Research Institute (Jupiter, FL campus) to study the molecular mechanisms of synapse formation and axon termination. The research team uses a combination of proteomics, transgenics, biochemistry, and genetics to explore fundamental events in nervous system develop. We are particularly interested in genes that are linked to neurodegeneration and neurodevelopmental disorders. For further information on the lab’s research activities, please visit: http://www.scripps.edu/grill/
We are looking for a motivated and self-driven person who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Successful candidates will have received a doctoral degree within the last year, or be planning to defend her/his thesis within the next 6-12 months. Experience with genetics or biochemistry is essential. While having worked with C. elegans is not a requirement, it will be viewed favorably. Prior experience is advantageous in any of the following areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, or fluorescence microscopy.
To apply, please send CV, a brief description of research interests and contact information for references to Dr. Brock Grill at bgrill@scripps.edu. The Scripps Research Institute provides an outstanding intellectual environment and access to a wide range of cutting edge technologies and the PI is committed to the career development of trainees. TSRI embraces diversity & recognizes it as a key to our success.
