Postdoctoral positions are available to explore the behavior of novel spintronic nanostructures within a new joint research effort between the AIMR Tohoku University and the University of Chicago. Researchers will have an opportunity to spend time in both laboratories, with Professor Hideo Ohno and Professor David Awschalom.

Research fields:
1. Condensed matter physics, 2. Materials Science, 3. Electrical Engineering
Content of work
1. Novel spintronic nanostructures physics including nanostructure fabrication
2. Synthesis of novel spintronic materials and their characterization
Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. degree in condensed matter physics, materials science, or electrical engineering
2. A good background for exploring spintronic nanostructure physics and spintronic materials research including fabrication, crystal growth such as molecular beam epitaxy, and/or characterization demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals
3. Ability to apply new experimental techniques and to investigate and resolve challenging problems in a logical manner
Treatment:
1. Salary: Annual income based on the regulation of Tohoku University
2. Position: Researchers of WPI-AIMR (to be affiliated with Tohoku Univ. as Postdoctoral Researcher)
3. Research fund: Cooperative research together with PI who manages the research fund
4. Term: 1 year with a possibility of extension until March 31, 2017 with yearly evaluation
5. Address: AIMR, Tohoku University, 2-1-1, Katahira, Aoba-ku, Sendai, JAPAN 980-8577 / University of Chicago AIMR Joint Research Center (at Institute of Molecular Engineering, the University of Chicago). How the period is divided between the two locations depends on the specific research topic.
