Postdoctoral Fellow
At Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Clinical Science, a (100 %) temporary position as postdoctoral fellow is available for a period of three (3) years. The position is funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society and is part of the project "Translational Development of Preclinical Models and Therapies in Myeloid Neoplasia".

Project:__ This project will focus on the development, application and exploitation of Patient Derived Xenografts (PDX) models of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), towards the development of novel biomarkers, imaging modalities and ultimately novel therapeutics for these cancers. This exciting project is a unique collaboration between several centers in USA and the Nordic countries as exemplified by the following references:

Qualifications and qualities__
- Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent from a relevant field of research or have handed in the dissertation before the application deadline. It is a condition for appointment that the dissertation is approved.
- Applicants must have a strong background within haematology, molecular cell biology, preclinical modelling, and cancer drug development.
- Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Applicants should demonstrate international collaboration.
- Emphasis will be put upon personal abilities. Applicants with documented ability to work independently, cooperate well, exhibit a high level of motivation and responsibility and have high working capacity and enthusiasm for scientific work will be preferred.
About postdoctoral fellowships
The purpose of the positions is the building of competence by means of further development of research work to the extent that a higher level than what is possible within an ordinary PhD program is reached. The main goals of the positions are to qualify the successful candidate for professional top positions. It is a goal that the employment period is carried out as a continuous research program.
Leaves of absence for other purposes than those laid down by law are normally not granted.
Applicants shall put forward a proposal for a project for qualifying work. The proposal shall include a progress plan. It is a premise that the selected candidate will complete the project within the stipulated period of employment.
Postdoctoral fellowships are fixed term positions. You cannot be employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than one fixed term period at the same institution. Also, you cannot be employed in a postdoctoral position if you have previously held this type of position at a different institution in the region.
