A Post doc possition is available in the Urban Water Engineering Section at DTU Environment Engineering within the topic of electromicrobiology. One of the biggest challenges in the energy sector is storage of the excess electricity produced for example during night. One promising solution might be microbial conversion of CO2 into organic molecules by using excess electricity as the sole source of reducing power. This project will aim to identify, develop and optimize new biocathodic strains and communities.
Responsibilities and tasks The Post doc will take responsibilities in novel research within the field of electro microbiology and will be part of a larger research group working on microbial processes in environmental matrixes and technologies. The specific tasks for this position will be:
- Perform pure culture microbial experiments in electrochemical reactors
- Perform microbial enrichment experiments in electrochemical reactors starting with various environmental mixed cultures samples
- Perform molecular and bioinformatics analysis on microbial pure cultures and mixed cultures
- Engineer microbial communities for optimized performance in electrochemical reactors
The Post doc will also have responsibilities concerning:
- Guidance and supervision of students
- Teaching in BSc and MSc courses
