Regulation of γδ T cell phenotype and trafficking in mammary tumour metastasis
Dr Seth Coffelt
Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics and in vivo models of cancer.
The Coffelt lab is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to investigate how mammary tumours instruct IL-17- and IFNγ-expressing γδ T cells to promote cancer spread. This work will follow on from our recently published data in Nature (see Coffelt et al. 2015). We offer a unique opportunity to combine metastasis biology with immunology in genetically engineered models of breast cancer. The project will rely on a multidisciplinary approach involving sophisticated in vivo models, murine engineering, immune cell manipulation, multi-colour flow cytometry and state-of-the-art imaging techniques.
You will have a PhD in a field relevant to immunology or cancer biology, a track record of first class science demonstrated by first author peer-reviewed scientific articles, and a demonstrable capability for independent thinking. Experience with in vivo models is desirable.
