We are seeking outstanding candidates to fill two NIH-funded post-doctoral fellow or Research Associate positions. They should also have the ambition and commitment to excel in a highly productive environment.
Our laboratory uses molecular, cellular and systems biology approaches to address fundamental mechanisms underlying B cell differentiation, including antibody somatic hypermutation and class switching, as well as generation and maintenance of memory B cells and plasma cells. We focus on how epigenetic marks, such as histone modifications and non-coding RNAs, and gut microbiota modulate B cell functions and antibody responses. Successful applicants are also expected to use our cutting-edge research tools to participate in translational research aiming to use epigenetic modulators to boost mucosal immune responses, enhance vaccine efficacies and dampen autoimmunity and/or inflammation.
There are many opportunities for collaboration with investigators in our department and other UT Health Science Center research facilities. These include the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC, an NCI-designated Cancer Center), South Texas Research Facility (STRF), the Greehey Children’s Research Center Institute, the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, in addition to multiple hospitals and clinical facilities. Many NIH-funded institutional training and career development awards are also available, including a K12 Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA) from the NIGMS.
