The Information Security Group at City University London is a world class research centre in the area of privacy preserving techniques. The group is part of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and has been well established with several PhD students and postdocs for well over 20 years now. The group has been actively working with UK plc's including BT, IBM, Google and many other SMEs to address some of their cyber security challenges through research and innovation. Recently the Group has received funding from UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Councils to carry out research in developing novel privacy management tools for Internet of Things. The project will implement and test these new privacy tools and models in a real-life testbed in Aberdeenshire.
Responsibilities
The main responsibility of the research fellow will be to design, develop and implement a privacy tool to define multiple privacy levels based on the sensitivity of the smart sensor data. The candidate will be required to travel to Aberdeenshire at times during the project to collect data from the IoT testbed. He/She will be expected to publish the work in top ranked IEEE journals and ACM/IEEE conferences in the area of informational security. You will be expected to work with multideciplinary partners from Aberdeen and Nottingham Universities on this project.
Person Specification
The candidate is expected to have completed a PhD in the area of Computer Science with specific knowledge and understanding of security protocols. As the project will develop new privacy preserving data mining techniques based on cryptographic techniques a good understanding of privacy preserving data mining techniques will be an added advantage. You should have excellent programming skills in Java, C++ and also familiar with modern scripting languages.
