Postdoctoral fellowships are available in the laboratory of Dr. Erik Roberson (www.uab.edu/roberson) to study molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders. Our work focuses on the neurobiology of Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia using mouse and cell models, with an emphasis on questions of translational importance. Multiple fully funded positions are available immediately, working in areas including tau, hyperexcitability, and interneuron dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease and progranulin gene therapy for frontotemporal dementia.

The lab is a dynamic and interactive group, based within one of the leading neurodegeneration research institutes, the highly collaborative Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics at UAB. Prior fellows in the lab have been successful in obtaining both academic faculty and industry positions as well as independent funding including the K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D., M.D., or both, and should be highly motivated, creative, and productive, with excellent oral and written communication skills. A strong publication record is important. Expertise with mouse models, stereotaxic surgery, EEG, and/or synaptic physiology in slice preparations is particularly desirable.

Please send Curriculum Vitae, statement of research interests, and the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Roberson, eroberson@uabmc.edu.
