Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an internationally networked aquatic research institute within the ETHDomain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). Eawag conducts research, education and expert consulting to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems.

The Department of Environmental Toxicology (Utox) invites applications for a

2-Year Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Biology and Toxicology

A strong-hold of our research is the advancement of concepts, experimental and computational approaches that provide impetus for using fish cell lines in the environmental risk assessment of chemicals (http://www.eawag.ch/en/department/utox/organisation/animal-cells-and-organisms/). One aim of this research is to reduce or even replace chemical testing with fish. Another aim is to provide mechanistic insights into chemical actions to build structured knowledge resources, such as adverse outcome pathways. As part of this research frame, we would like to start a program on gene editing of fish cell lines usingCRISPR technology.

If you are interested in this topic, and you have a background in molecular biology with experience inCRISPR technology, you are invited to apply. We offer a very dynamic and collaborative research environment, which also profits from state-of-the-art infrastructure and support.

Please submit your application by August 31/2018. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and an appropriate track record. Please include a letter of motivation explaining why you think you can contribute to our research frame, a CV with a list of publications, and the names and contact information of three references.

Eawag is committed to promote equal opportunities for women and men and to support the compatibility of family and work. For more information about Eawag and our work conditions please consult www.eawag.chand www.eawag.ch/en/aboutus/working/employment. Applications from women are especially welcome. For further information, please contact Prof. Kristin Schirmer (Kristin.Schirmer@eawag.ch).
