Postdoctoral Associate

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Associate position at the Dept. of Biological and Environmental Sciences of Georgia College and State University to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neuronal plasticity, particularly the role of ubiquitin-proteasome-mediated proteolysis in long-term synaptic plasticity. The projects will address cutting-edge research questions on synaptic plasticity (e.g., J. Neurosci. 34: 3171-3182) in the normal brain and abnormalities of synaptic transmission and plasticity in diseases such as Alzheimer’s. The position requires a Ph.D. and experience in one or more of the following fields: molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or neuroscience. Familiarity with electrophysiological techniques such as extracellular recording in brain slices is beneficial. GCSU has strong programs in Biology and is located in the beautiful lake region of Georgia with low cost of living and proximity to major metropolitan areas.

Interested individuals should apply by submitting: (1) a cover letter with description of research interests and experience, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) unofficial transcripts, and (4) contact information for three references through the GCSU job site: (www.gcsujobs.com/postings/5905)
