Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in neuroscience? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?
An exciting opportunity exists for a postdoctoral research fellow to work on cognitive enhancers and their potential for use in therapy for age-related cognitive decline and dementia. The project will investigate specific inhibition of phosphodiesterase-4B (PDE4B) as a strategy for cognitive enhancement in mice that are elderly (18 months) or carry Alzheimer's disease-associated mutations in APP. The work will encompass brain slice electrophysiology, functional imaging of synapses, and behavioural analysis in mice. Candidates with recent relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
You should have a PhD (or be close to completion) in neuroscience or a closely allied discipline together with experience in electrophysiology or laboratory animal behavioural testing. Training in appropriate techniques will be provided if required.
The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies.
