Job Description
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Surgery, Post-Doctoral Fellow, Position # 00017084
The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Surgery. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology or equivalent and either extensive molecular biological experience or extensive rodent surgical experience. Intestinal anastomosis or microsurgical experience is strongly preferred. Position will study intestinal epithelial and cancer biology in vivo and in vitro in NIH-funded laboratory at the University of North Dakota. Experience with qRT-PCR, western blot, site directed mutagenesis, and viral gene transfer will be strongly valued. This is a full-time benefited position offered for 1 year with a possibility of extension to 2 additional years’ subject to funding, performance and the desire of both parties to continue.
Compensation and Appointment
Position: Post-Doctoral Fellow
Remuneration/Salary: $30,000 - $40,000 DOE
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the University), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver. Duties:
Construction of plasmid and viral vectors for signal transduction studies in vitro and in vivo, including site directed mutagenesis
Use of siRNA and adenoviral vectors
Protein and RNA isolation from cells, rat, and mouse tissue
qRT-PCR
Western blotting
Studies of transplantable mouse tumors
Managing and breeding transgenic mouse colonies
Intestinal surgery in rats and mice
Minimum Requirements:
• Ph.D. in biology or equivalent
• Molecular biological experience or Rodent surgical experience
