Post-doctoral fellowship in immune oncology; CRISPR/Cas9 screens to identify therapeutic targets in leukemia, Lund University, Sweden.

The Järås research group (1-3), Dept of Clinical Genetics, Lund University (4), is announcing a 24-month postdoc scholarship within immune-oncology research with start early 2019.

Postdoctoral scholarship

We are looking for a skillful, ambitious and highly motivated postdoc to join the Järås research group, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Lund University. The overall aim of the project is to identify novel therapeutic targets on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells that suppress the immune system, and to provide proof of concept for therapeutic effect by targeting leukemia cells in preclinical models. More specifically, by using the CRISPR/Cas9-technology and transgenic in vivo models, the postdoctoral fellow will study cell surface proteins inhibiting the immune system. The project will involve various techniques within molecular biology, cell biology, and in vivo work.

The Järås research group

Our research group performs cutting-edge research recently published in well renowned scientific journals (PNAS, Blood, and Leukemia). All equipment, including advanced cell sorters and next generation sequencing facilities are available, and a platform allowing for in vivo shRNA and CRISPR/Cas9-based screens has been established, as well as several in vivo experimental models, providing a solid base for our research.

How to apply

Candidates should provide an application referring to Dnr: V2018/1925 along with the following documents:

1) a motivation letter, maximum one page, outlining why you are applying for the fellowship. 2) a curriculum vitae.

3) a list of publications.

4) PhD Diploma.

5) the contact information of at least two references.

Qualifications required

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a suitable research background. Applicants are expected to have recent first author publications in internationally renowned peer-reviewed journals. Previous experience from in vivo studies, flow cytometry, work with hematopoietic cells, cancer and immunology is advantageous. The applicant should not have been employed by Lund University within the last two years in order to be able to receive a scholarship. PhD degree should not be more than three years old at the last day of applying. Applicants close to finishing up their PhD studies are also welcome to apply. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team is essential.

Lund University

Lund University offers an impressive range of high-quality research and education, made possible by our 7,400 staff members and 40,000 students. We host one of the leading hematology and cancer research environments in Europe. The environment involves some 300 researchers and students, in close proximity to the University Hospital, and is equipped with multiple technical platforms to support cutting-edge research in cancer.

The scholarship amounts to 25 000 SEK/month (tax-free).

Last day of application is November 30, 2018
