Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Research Assistant funded by European Research Council Consolidator Grant No. 681460 “Market Selection, Frictions, and the Information Content of Prices” coordinated by Professor Alp E. Atakan (QMUL; Principal Investigator). The position is based at the Mile End campus of QMUL.
Queen Mary University of London, is a leading university in the UK, with a breadth of excellence across Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, and Medicine. The post-holder will be based within the School of Economics and Finance, home to over 45 academic staff and a vibrant community of approximately 35 PhD students. SEF faculty members are recognised experts in their fields, and their research has impact on policy making and the public debate.
Post Information and Requirements
This position will provide successful candidates the opportunity to pursue independent research focused on information economics. Candidates with a strong background in microeconomic theory and game theory with interests in information aggregation in markets and elections are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in economics or a related field (completed or close to completion) and a thorough knowledge of the research field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and organise work within the project timetable.
The position is full-time and fixed-term for a period of 24 months starting on or soon after the 1st of May 2019. Alternative arrangements regarding starting date and contract duration can be discussed. The starting salary will be in the range of £31,054 - £39,483 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
