Postdoctoral position in hematopoietic stem cell metabolism
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Michalis Agathocleous at Children’s Research Institute, UT Southwestern Medical Center, to study the metabolism of hematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells. The laboratory works on the role of metabolism in the initiation of leukemia and in the hematopoietic response to infection. We have a unique ability to perform metabolomics in low numbers of rare cells isolated from tissues (Nature 549:476). We have discovered several metabolites that are enriched in stem cells or other hematopoietic cell types, suggesting novel roles in stem cell or leukemia biology. We use a combination of genetic mouse models, stem cell assays, and metabolomics techniques.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have a record of scientific productivity. Candidates may come from any area of biomedical research. Candidates with training in biochemistry, including enzymology and mass spectrometry, who would like to study stem cell or cancer metabolism in vivo are particularly encouraged to apply.
To apply: please submit CV, a description of past research and of future research interests, and contact details and/or references from 3 referees to:
