Job Description
Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow
Department: Radiation Physics and Radiation Oncology
Division: Radiation Oncology
Reports to: Faculty (Gabriel Sawakuchi, Ph.D. and Simona Shaitelman, M.D.)
Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the Sawakuchi and Shaitelman lab at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The research projects involve investigations in the role of radiation and DNA repair defects on immune response activation and radiosensitization. Particularly, the postdoctoral fellows will contribute to the discovery and translation of biological pathways to: 1) predict tumor response to radiation using DNA repair defects; and 2) activate the immune system using radiation in combination with DNA repair defects.
Ideal candidates should have finished their Ph.D., or M.D. degrees in radiobiology, immunology, bioinformatics, biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or similar research fields. Experience with small animal handling, immunology and DNA damage assays is highly desired but not a requirement. Good verbal and written communication skills are also important. The individual is expected to work within a large group of motivated interdisciplinary researchers including clinicians, postdoctoral fellows and other research staff.
The Division of Radiation Oncology provides clinical, research, and education services to one of the largest and most advanced radiation oncology centers in the United States. The Division of Radiation Oncology is the best equipped for research-driven patient care as well as research and development of new technologies.
