丹麦哥本哈根大学遗传学博士后
Postdoctoral position in Genetic Epidemiology and Computational Genetics: Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark
The University of Copenhagen is the leading university in Denmark and our department (Clinical Biochemistry, Herlev Hospital, Copenhagen University Hospital) is a leading research laboratory in genetic epidemiology at the university.
The position is for 2 years with a possibility of extension. Your educational background could be in bioinformatics, computer science, engineering, medical statistics or similar academic background with intensive IT training and experience on a post doc level.
The content of the job is:
• Support of bioinformatic projects within DNA chip research
• Establishment of next generation sequencing in our department
• Development and optimization of a software pipeline containing all elements, from quality control, sequnece alignment, variant calling, annotation and downstream applications
• Participation in solving the day to day IT problems in the laboratory
• Establishment of your own research, supervised by us
• Shared responsibility for diagnostic gene testing in our laboratory
You will work closely together with medical doctors, lab technician and engineer, etc.
Our department is the routine laboratory of Herlev Hospital and produces 6 million routine results per year. We have had an iScan from Illumina for 18 months and receive a MiSeq in January 2013. We consist of 20 medical doctors and other academics, 50 laboratory technicians, 10 phlebotomists and > 40 medical students.
Our research concentrates on genetic epidemiology of the common diseases, eg. cancer, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, myocardial infarction, stroke, and depression. For this, we have collected DNA samples from >100,000 individuals of which >30,000 have been genotyped with up to 3 different Illumina Infinium chips. This, combined with the unique Danish health registers have made it possible to contribute scientifically on a very high level (look us up at www.cgps.dk and/or http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/)
Your background:
Candidates with experiences in next-generation sequencing, genotyping, genome-wide association studies of SNPs and/or CNVs, and/or other high-throughput data analysis are particularly encouraged to apply. Programming skills and experiences in the applications of computational methods to genomic data are highly desirable.
It is very important that you are colloborative, enterprising, and able to learn new algorithms, analyze large genetic datasets, interpret results, and draft manuscripts for publications.
