There is an open post-doctoral position for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual in the Research Group of Molecular Mechanisms of Synaptic Function at the Max Planck Florida Institute in Jupiter, Florida, USA
The post-doctoral candidate will have the opportunity to join the Research Group of Molecular Mechanisms of Synaptic Function where the calyx of Held/MNTB synapse is used as a model system to uncover the molecular mechanisms that regulate synaptic transmission and plasticity and their impact on auditory information processing. In particular, we are highly focused on presynaptic mechanisms. To do so an integrated approach that centers on using novel viral vector technology, electrophysiological and biophysical methods, light and electron microscopy techniques in conjunction with transgenic mice are employed to perturb key molecules to understand their roles in regulation of synaptic transmission and plasticity at the calyx of Held/MNTB synapse.
The position is open immediately. The ideal candidate must be well trained in electrophysiology, in particular patch clamp techniques. In addition, either a background in synaptic physiology, ion channel physiology, Ca2+ imaging, or advanced microscopy techniques are preferred but not required.
Interested candidates should submit their Curriculum Vitae, a concise statement of research accomplishments and interests and complete contact information for at least three references to:
