英国牛津大学化学系博士后研究助理职位
Grade 7: Salary in the range £29,541 – £33,230 p.a.
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available using biomolecular NMR techniques to study the structure and dynamics of macromolecuar assemblies, in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Baldwin on a research project funded by the BBSRC.
A growing number of human disorders including Alzheimer’s disease and type II diabetes and prion diseases are associated with the deposition of proteinaceous ‘amyloid’ aggregates in human tissues. The goal of this project is to gain insight into how a family of molecular chaperones, the small heat shock proteins, inhibit and prevent the formation of these pathological aggregates.
A combination of solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy techniques will be employed. There will be a focus on using solution NMR techniques that have been optimised to study high molecular weight (<1MDa) complexes.
The successful candidate will work closely with the PI and collaborators and will be part of the large NMR based research activities in the department. Extensive training will be available in all areas of the project, with a strong view towards enhancing future career prospects for the successful candidate. The facilities available for both sample production and analysis are world-leading.
You should either already have a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up the post. Applicants with training in aspects of biomolecular NMR, protein purification and functional studies are encouraged to apply.
The post will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Mansfield Road, Oxford and is available for two and a half years, with a possible extension to five years.
Only applications received before midday on 15 February 2013 can be considered.
