丹麦技术大学生物可持续性研究中心招聘博士后
Post Doc in CHO Cell Engineering and Design
We are seeking a highly ambitious and talented post doc to work on interdisciplinary projects within genetic engineering and design of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells for biotechnological applications. The post doc will work close together with other researchers in a newly started research group headed by Professor Michael J. Betenbaugh at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB), an independent unit at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
The CFB focuses on developing the next generation of cell factories deploying advanced metabolic engineering techniques, and the development of bioprocesses for a sustainable production of chemicals and high value compounds. Most recently, the CFB is expanding its activities to also comprise CHO cell line engineering for improved bioprocessing and production of therapeutic proteins.
The overall mission of CFB is to contribute to research, development and innovation within the following scientific areas:
• Discovery of novel biosynthesis routes and exploration of compounds suitable for a sustainable bioproduction
• Shortening the time of production strain development through intelligent design of cell factories
Job description
The post doc will be responsible for initiating and carrying out projects within metabolic engineering of CHO cells to produce optimized host cells for the production of therapeutic proteins. The post doc will identify target genes, design genetic engineering strategies, screen and characterize cell lines.
The work will include the application of analytical techniques and systems biology tools as well as setting up new and improved assays for verifying cell engineering modifications. The candidate will work close with other research groups and core facilities that aim at constructing superior cell factories and develop technologies that shorten the design cycle in metabolic engineering.
Qualifications
Mandatory requirements:
• PhD degree or similar in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or bioengineering as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Post doc
• Laboratory experience with molecular and cell biology of eukaryotic cells
• High quality publication record
• Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed within a competitive research field
• Good communication skills
Preference given to a candidate with experience in:
• Systems biology approaches including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, glycomics and metabolomics
• Experience with molecular analytical tools such as MS, HPLC, etc.
• Cultivation of mammalian cells
• Genetic engineering including gene knockouts and insertions
• Metabolic engineering
• Protein production
• Mathematical modeling and programming
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 2 years, with the possibility of 1 year extension.
CFB is located in Hørsholm and comprises 10 research units (9 scientific sections conducting basic research and a Core conducting translational research).
