英国伦敦帝国学院合成生物学和创新中心招聘博士后
Research Associate
Genome Organisation for Optimising Synthetic Secondary Metabolism
Imperial College London -Department of Bioengineering, Centre for Synthetic Biology and Innovation
South Kensington Campus
Salary £32,100 - £33,820 per annum, in line with experience
Initial appointment for 3 years
A three year synthetic biology postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Ellis Lab at Imperial College London (http://openwetware.org/wiki/Ellis_Lab).
The Ellis Lab is the leading UK group in genome engineering and yeast synthetic biology and is a core group of the Centre for Synthetic Biology and Innovation, the UK’s largest centre for synthetic biology.
In the available position, the Research Associate will investigate how re-arranging modular genetic elements within natural and synthetic yeast genomes can improve the production of valuable secondary metabolites such as therapeutics. This work is expected to have a major impact on synthetic biology and the newly emerging subject of genome engineering. The project will interface with the Synthetic Yeast Genome project (http://syntheticyeast.org/) and will likely lead to collaborations with industrial partners. The post is funded by the BBSRC and appointment to this post will be made on the Academic and Research pay scale as detailed above.
For this project we are seeking a highly motivated individual with a relevant PhD (or equivalent) in biological sciences, experience of molecular cloning with yeast and some knowledge of metabolic engineering. Ideal candidates will be available to start in May 2013. Previous research experience in synthetic biology projects will be advantageous but is not a requirement; instead this project offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to cross-over into the rapidly growing field of synthetic biology; a subject predicted to become one of the leading research fields of this century.
Informal enquires can be made directly to Dr Tom Ellis (t.ellis@imperial.ac.uk).
Applicants should apply online at http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/employment, where further details can be found.
