I am seeking postdoctoral fellows to join my research team at Boston University and the Harvard Wyss Institute to study the cooperation between mechanical and biochemical signaling in the regulation of angiogenesis and human mesenchymal stem cell biology.

My group is investigating how cellular interactions with their surrounding local microenvironment regulate cellular structure, organization, proliferation, differentiation, and migration in the context of vascular and stem cell biology. Using a repertoire of bioengineering approaches, we have found that mechanical forces generated by the intracellular actin cytoskeleton regulate numerous cellular functions by modulating cell adhesion, structure, and signaling (see www.seas.upenn.edu/~chenlab for more details). We now are seeking candidates to lead efforts in investigating the mechanisms for how adhesive and mechanical signals regulate these processes in exciting new 3D organotypic models that we have recently developed.
